Thanks to many Friends

Many individuals and organizations have contributed the time and money that enabled us to carry out the bicentennial restoration of our historic park and help us now to maintain it on a daily basis and make use of it for community celebrations.

Every year, in response to our annual appeal, dozens of people send contributions that go a long way toward paying for the annual maintenance of the park. Our Inside Tribeca loft tours have enabled us to create a reserve fund and will make it possible to bring water into the park.

Over the years, we have received significant grants from:

  • Former City Councilwoman Katherine Freed - $208,000 allocated to the Parks Department for the Duane Park Restoration Project ;
  • New York State Council on the Arts - $7500 to go toward design fees;
  • Travelers Foundation - $5600, including one bench;
  • NYMEX Foundation - $3000 to purchase a lamp post;
  • Con Edison - $2000 toward general maintenance.

We received two awards directed to community groups:

  • A Building Block Award of $300; and
  • A Molly Parnis Award of $500.

We are especially grateful to the hundreds of volunteers who over the years have helped to make our loft tour, planting days, cleaning days, Halloween celebration, and other actvities successful. Our thanks go also to the neighbors who have opened their homes for our loft tours , and the individuals and organizations who have made in-kind donations of plants, party food, and other good things.
